The Perinatal S P A C E provides support across 3 key areas during the perinatal period, they are what I refer to as the 3 P’s- Pregnancy, Preparation for Parenting, and Postpartum. If we were to add a fourth P it would be for prevention. Prevention of debilitating perinatal mental illness. Support is provided through educational classes and counselling with Medicare rebates available.

Women become pregnant during various times in their lives, under various circumstances and their feelings about their pregnancy- well, they can be varied!
At the perinatal space we understand that much of an expectant parents focus is on preparing for birth- mentally, physically and emotionally, this is very normal and encouraged.

I really loved Amanda's counselling style. She works collaboratively with you and uses a lot of visual tools, which help with figuring out your emotions. She helped me to see clearly what was actually important to me and reminded me of the strength I had. She gives you tools and resources that you can take away from a session and I found these very useful. Amanda's space is very comfortable, and she makes you feel very welcome and safe. I recommend Amanda to all of my friends that need some support! Thanks so much Amanda for everything, you really helped me in a challenging time as a new mum!
We’ve attended quite a few 'baby training' courses so far and our session with Amanda helped to put everything into perspective. It reinforced that each baby is different and there is no miracle book or advice- we’ve just got to take the time to get to know our little baby and be prepared to trial a few different things to find what works for us. We are not putting any pressure on ourselves. The thing we got the most out of the session was talking about our parenting values- it's not something that is covered by the birthing classes at the hospital etc. For me its really important and something Andrea and I probably hadn’t fully considered.
Amanda covers aspects of parenthood that you don't get told about in birthing classes at the hospital. Its not all about crying babies, breastfeeding and pooey nappies - there are lots of other aspects of parenthood that Amanda challenged us to consider and prepare for.
The guide we took away with us has lots of information that will be handy when our baby arrives. I can see us using it when things get difficult, to take a moment to reflect and focus on what really matters.
It was easy to share our aspirations as parents with Amanda and she made us think and talk about aspects of parenthood that we hadn’t yet considered. We would definitely recommend any expecting or new parents go and see her!
Spent 3 hours today with Amanda from The Perinatal S P A C E focusing on the ‘fourth trimester’ / aka first 6 weeks of birth. We learnt what to expect, how to approach bringing a new human into our world and how to trust our instincts. A valuable session that left us feeling at ease. There will be some stress, it’s a natural human response, and there will be less sleep but accepting this and having a supportive, calming environment will make it so much easier manage, and we know it will be a beautiful experience. I’ve got plenty of notes and resources to refer back to that Amanda provided, which I find super helpful. This experience, paired with comprehensive learnings from hypnobirthing with Nic at Mind Bump & Birth and an initial pregnancy seminar from Darwin Naturopathics has set me up for a positive mindset and empowered approach to pregnancy and beyond. Without the initial pregnancy seminar, my pregnancy journey would have been vastly different. I’m so glad I sought support and advice from this beautiful bunch of people.
Being a mother has been one of the most beautiful yet challenging seasons I have gone through. Having the support of someone who helps you use your own intuition and helps builds your self confidence is key. Amanda is an amazing support and will definitely help you through the roller coaster of parenting!!
The information and resources Amanda provided us with made so much sense amidst the conflicting and overwhelming advice we seemed to be reading and receiving elsewhere. Her assistance helped reassure me and my husband to trust our gut instincts and despite being first time parents - we were the experts on our baby!
